Description:

• overall dimensions 26" diam. x 18" high;
• 24 slumped glass wedges, each 13" long with varying sandblasted Ova pattern; glass wedges are illuminated with 2 LEDs each from the top edge;
• nickel plated steel structure consisting of 2 rows of 12 spokes each radiating from the 6" diam. center core;
• 10 LEDs are aimed downwards from the centre core which is encapsulated with a glass lens;

Purpose:

Incorporating light provides a functional purpose to my glass sculpture. I chose LEDs because of their low power requirement and their low heat generation. The tiny lights are used for edge-lighting the glass, they pronounce the carving and diffuse the light.
